HISTORY OF THE FIRST TRAIN OF SOUTH AMERICA

Departure from your hotel to make a complete tour of the most emblematic points in the history of the first railroad in South America; the “Presidente Carlos Antonio López” railway. We will visit the Asunción railway station, originally called “Estación San Francisco”, which stands out for its architectural proportions and the beauty of its lines. In the museum you can see objects and furnishings of the different stations located along the tracks, as well as one of the first locomotives to arrive from England for the transport service. We continue to the Botanical Garden,one of the railway stations, to see the locomotive that is there. We continue to the station of the city of Pirayu, which architecturally differs radically from the rest of the ones in the countryside, since it was the only one that had two towers. Time for lunch, ending the tour in Sapucai, the city of the railroad. We will visit its historical museum, which includes the train workshops, dated from 1895, and the steam locomotives. Return to Asunción

VISIT TO JESUIT REDUCTIONS AND YERBATERA

Full day tour

Departure from your hotel to the bus station to go to the city of Encarnación. Arrival at the Encarnación bus station, where a private vehicle will take us to visit the Jesuit Reductions of Trinidad, vestiges that still persist, of what was the great evangelizing campaign of the Jesuit Fathers, dating from the year 1706. At the end we continue the trip to Bella Vista, where the Selecta yerba mate is located. In the place we will have a guided tour where we can observe the whole production cycle of the yerba mate, which starts in the nursery, the plantations, the drying sector and barbacuá, where the process of Yerba Mate production takes place, mill and packaging to reach the end of the product. Culminating with the demonstration and tasting of the tereré, mate or the traditional stew. We will also have the opportunity to visit the museum where old machinery for the process of making yerba mate is exposed. At the end, we return to the Encarnación bus station to take the bus to Asunción.
